Pat

Born in 1927, my mum, Pat spent the depression years in an orphanage while her mum languished in another institution and her dad survived by shooting rabbits in the bush near Perth. In her early 40s and after rearing my 5 brothers and me, Mum matriculated and then completed a teaching degree, which not only paved the way for a 20+ year career as a primary school teacher but also a hobby as an abstract landscape artist – much in the style of Fred Williams.
