WA Wildflowers

2021

In August 2016, Steve and I made a trip to WA hoping to see some of the state’s beautiful wildflowers. Travelling through the state’s mid-west, we couldn’t have chosen a better time to be there. The painting is based on a photo I took standing at Irwin Lookout in the Coalseam Conservation Park. We are doubly blessed in having been able to see and capture this image of the fields of bright yellow everlastings that covered the land across the other side of the Irwin River. Firstly, the scene brought back some very precious memories of walking through fields of everlastings that reached above my knees near Perenjori and Wubin when I was about nine years old. Secondly, I have discovered that the lookout is now closed.
