Washing Day, Africa 1977

Along with 19 others, Steve and I travelled for 3 months through Africa in an old British army truck. I love this image of Steve, young, strong, with a great beard, and emanating his typical warmth. He was waiting for his clothes to dry on one of the rare opportunities we had to wash either our clothes or ourselves – mostly using a small yellow basin.
